The locally produced variety of coffee is Sigarar Utang. It is produced between 1400 and 1700 meters above sea level within the beautiful Koerintji cooperative. The cooperative is located in the heart of the Gunung Tujuh sub-region. The Koerintji cooperative has 250 members. Each member is in reality a producer family which each manages a plantation, sometimes for generations. It is in the heart of the Kerinci region in Sumatra that several families cultivate coffee cherries, less than 2.5 hectares per family. For most families, it is coffee that allows them to earn the income. At the heart of the cooperative, the management is led by Tryiono. He takes care of all these members in the process of growing, harvesting, processing the coffee and even roasting if necessary. Tryiono also takes care of providing the washing station for families who do not have access to it. The Koerintji cooperative is experiencing phenomenal success, knowing that it has been in operation since 2017. Incredible little cooperative!
