Edwin Guarnizo’s coffee is grown outside of Tarqui in the department of Huila, Colombia. This is one of our favorite regions to buy coffee from, and Edwin is the son of Reimundo Guarnizo, a farmer who has contributed heavily to Tarqui producer blends we’ve used for 9 Swans nearly every year.

This is our first purchase from Edwin, who is up to some interesting things on his farm. He’s growing a hectare of bourbon varietal, with some technical help from Shared Source, as well as experimenting with anaerobic fermentation in pickle barrels, rather than the traditional open tank fermentation. 

Edwin is a producer with great promise, this lot we’ve purchased tastes excellent, with plenty of classic Colombian nougat sweetness, as well as an interesting gingery top note.
