Top AA coffee from Kenya, with a slap on the fruit. A must try coffee.
The taste is classic Kenyan with lots of black currants, with a high complexity. New flavor nuances keep popping up. There is a slap on the palate, and the coffee has a really good fullness - while maintaining transparency and balance.
The coffee scores 88 - and it immediately stood out when I tasted it on the cupping table.
We have bought the coffee via Cuprima, which has secured Mutitu a FOB price of $ 11.11 / kg.
Mutitu Coffee Factory
This month's coffee is called Top Mutitu - simply because it is the best from the washing station, which is called Mutitu Coffee Factory. In the picture you see Soweli Karimi, who is the factory manager at the washing station.
Mutitu is created out of cooperative tanks, where the small coffee farmers in the nearby area stand together to secure proper payments without being cheated by middlemen. The washing station also ensures that the small coffee farmer gets a prepayment as soon as they hand in their coffee berries - instead of having to wait until the coffee is sold, as is the tradition in Kenya.
