Another Top 3 Brewing Methods: Origami, Cezva, Melitta

Unlike the classics, all alternative types of coffee brewing allow you to more fully reveal the taste and aromatic nuances of a particular type of grain. The use of equipment for alternative coffee brewing makes the preparation of the drink almost a complete analog of the tea ceremony. The brewing process becomes an art that professional baristas and amateurs have been learning for many years, tirelessly improving their skills.

Origami

Origami funnel is a relatively new brewing accessory. The funnel combines elegant oriental design and ease of brewing. Due to the shape, air ducts are formed between the funnel walls and the paper filter. They help saturate coffee with oxygen and stabilize the rate of water spillage. Origami funnels are made of Mino ceramics, which have a tradition of 400 years. Ceramics is an environmentally friendly material that retains heat well.

Cezva

Cezva or jezve is a traditional coffee pot common in Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries. It is made of thick copper and has a long handle. To make the drink tasty and fragrant, follow a few rules:

  • The finer the grind is, the richer, more flavorful, and thicker the drink.
  • For the jezve, a fine grind is ideal, resembling flour.
  • You can make a drink from medium grains, but the coffee will not be strong.
  • The drink should not be boiled. When boiling, the foam cap on top is destroyed.

Do you like a drink with foam? Do not stir it at all. Just strain it through a sieve. You can add sugar to the drink and various spices, such as cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, or cinnamon. They are also laid in the jezve before brewing.

Melitta

This is a brand created in Germany, owned by a company that produces equipment and accessories for making coffee, tea, and other food. Pour-over Melitta is designed to brew coffee by the Japanese “pour-over” method. The special shape of the dripper provides maximum coffee extraction and gives an unsurpassed rich taste. It is designed to prepare four servings of the drink at a time.
